Macao is a fishing village located 20 minutes from Bavaro and 35 from Punta Cana by car, it has one of the best public beaches in the Dominican Republic, increasingly known by surfers, Dominican and foreign backpackers. Located 12 minutes walking from this paradisiacal beach are the facilities of Macao Beach Hostel where on Sundays we celebrate the Macao Sundays, a space where the cultures of our planet are mixed in an atmosphere of celebration and smiles that at the same time works as a place for local and international artistic development in all its ranges.
Our goal is to create an alternative space in the area of Punta Cana where friends and family can get together to enjoy an environment suitable for children, adolescents and adults in which live music, food with vegetarian options, crafts, workshops, local products and general culture are all found in the same spot.
On January the 28th, despite the strong threats of rain, this activity was fully enjoyed by locals and visitors. The music was in charge of DJ Jace & Jenni 4 Real (more info here), the Dominican band DIMABLOS (see video here) and the Colombian-Canadian duo MOVING 4 WORDS (see video here) that during all afternoon long were contributing with the good vibes that kept the Macao Sundays in an amazing atmosphere. Likewise, crafts and local products were present through Nathalie Molina from Venezuela (info), Luisa María Hoyos from Colombia and Innovación Rural (organic honey, more info here).
